As well as individual players and 2-3-person teams  are allowed to participate in the competition in this nomination. To participate in competition you should register at goldenbyte.org, create a team, and if its necessary, add a second team member.

In this category participants are encouraged to develop and present a website or web project.

Important: The project,wich is declared to participate in the nomination «Web-Project» can not be simultaneously submitted to the competition in the other category.

Competition Topic:

The general topic of the “Golden Byte” competition in 2018  was chosen as the “Invent. Create. Change”.

Important: as the topic of the championship is wide and can be interpreted in different ways,   an integral part of the presentation of entries should be the rationale of how the work fits the topic of the championship, and how it unfolds the topic. The inability of participants to prove the conformity of the topic of the contest can be grounds for disqualification. 

Competition stages:

For all three stages of the contest it is primarily indicated the minimum amount of work that must be introduced. For the first stage of the competition it is offered to submit a concept of the future site, but it won't  be wrong to present a workable version of the site, or even a complete project.

The submitted competetion projects must be original. The person who provided the work of others can be disqualified at any stage of the competition.

Works with the author's decisions (fully renovated and / or programming) developed specifically for this project, can be evaluated higher than those based on existing solutions.

1 round

Qualifying round in which the participants that are registered on the site in this category must submit a concept of the future site in the form of presentation. It is desirable  the presentation showed a general idea of the site, the problems that will be solved with the help of it, explain why such a project will be in demand. It is also desirable to show the logo of the site or other key stylistic solutions, sketches of future pages.It would be appropriate to draw and show a block diagram or other schematic explanation of the site device and its main sections.

Works are accepted within the established rules of the championship dates for the 1st round in a single presentation, which size  shall not exceed 10 Mb (in  case of excess  the minimum amount of requirements  the presentation can contain links to other materials or working version of the site, which is in the public domain). Teams that were selected in the 1st round are invited to participate in the regional final.

2 round

In the regional finals the participants present detailed presentation of the site, more detailed than provided in the 1st round.

In the second round, participants should independently make a presentation of the project, necessarily using  a presentation or slide show for illustrative purposes only.

Presentation of the second round should disclose the following: the topic of the site; problems that can be solved with the help of it; target audience of the site, the site structure (sections and content), the main functionality of the site (separately for site users and administrators), and the design of the site , a review of similar projects (if any) and benefits of the proposed ideas to the already implemented, the relevance of the project, technology, with the help of  which you plan to create a website.

Separately, you should submit the final design solution of the main pages or sections of the website.

Competitive works are accepted within the rules of the championship dates to the 2nd round. The winners of the regional finals are eligible to represent their region in the finals of the international "Golden Byte" competition.

The winners of the regional finals are allowed to modify or change the competitive work after the regional finals to eliminate the problems and bugs, including — accordance to the recommendations of the jury of the regional finals.

3 round

The winners of the regional round present their work at the Intenational Final that will be held 21- 22 of April in Kyiv. 

Requirements for the presented contest works:

The presentation may be presented in the format of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Flash, or as a video.

The maximum size of the presentation - 20 Mb. In presentation there  have to be high quality images and don't have to contain visible compression or processing artifacts.

Videos are presented in AVI or MP4 formats. Its acceptable to use DivX, XviD, H264 or AVC video codecs. Its permissible to use an MP3 or audio codecs AAC. Movie Frame size should be at least 512x384 and no more than 1920x1080. The proportions of the frame are arbitrary, at the discretion of the authors. Video frame rate should be at least 25 and no more than 30 frames per second (which is strongly recommended to adhere to industry standards). Maximum clip length is 5 minutes. The maximum movie file size - 100 Mb.

Videos and presentations that are not appropriate to these requirements won't be allowed to participate in the contest without extra notice of participants, and participants who provided the works, that are not consistent with the requirements can be disqualified at any stage of the competition.

Grounds for disqualification:

Participants can be disqualified at any stage of the contest without prior notice due to reasons of violation of the rules of the contest and / or forms of submitting the work, including but not limited to the following violations:

- Inconsistency of the contest topic

- Obviously incorrect interpretation of the topic jobs.

- Failure to comply with the technical parameters of the competition work (format, duration and the size of the video,etc.)

- Submission the works for the contest by the authors that are not the participants

- Plagiarism and borrowing in an amount that is not the quotation and can not be justified by the author's intention.

  • Evaluation of web project ideas , including - its actuality, relevance, the ability to solve the stated problems and perform tasks. Does the application have a sustainable business model? Does the project have the social orientation that solves critical problems society faces (for example, such problems like people with reduced mobility problem, environmental issues, etc.)
  • Evaluation of site design, its execution, compliance with design goals and objectives of the site. Ease of use, transparency for the user interface, intuitive use of the site.
  • The completeness of the realization of tasks assigned to the site and its functionality.
  • How successful is the presentation of the project. Was the report of the team understandable and interesting for the audience. Were the team answers to the judge's questions exhaustive and complete. How well was the project idea shown and its prospects.
  • How technically correct the project is implemented. Are the technologies used in the project optimal in terms of performance, reliability and future development of the project. Are the mechanisms of managing your project implemented (for example, the administrative part). Do you use cloud technology in the project?
